Kohl’s is offering teachers and school staff a special discount for the first time.
For three days – from Friday through July 18 – can get 20% off in-store purchases when they show a valid school ID, Kohl’s shared exclusively with USA TODAY.
The discount is to thank educators and school staff “who persevered during an incredibly challenging year,” Greg Revelle, Kohl’s chief marketing officer, said in a statement.
“Since educators and school staff give so much of their time and talent to developing and shaping our children, we hope they can use this 20% discount to treat themselves to something special before a new school year begins,” Revelle told USA TODAY.

The discount is for K-12 teachers, daycare and early learning educators, post-secondary educators as well as school staff. It can’t be used with other percent-off coupons or age-specific discounts.
Like with the retailer’s other coupons some exclusions apply, and this discount isn’t valid on gift cards, electronics, toys, beauty and fragrance and select brands including Crocs, Columbia, Eddie Bauer, select KitchenAid, Koolaburra by UGG, Lands’ End and Levi’s. See the full list of exclusions at Kohls.com/exclusions.
During the three-day discount, Kohl’s says customers will earn $10 in Kohl’s Cash for every $50 spent to use on a future purchase. Teachers can also earn additional Kohl’s Cash with the store’s free loyalty program, Kohl’s Rewards.

Retailers often offer teachers discounts throughout the year including during Teacher Appreciation Week in May and ahead of the back-to-school season.
Staples announced the launch of Classroom Rewards on the chain’s Staples Connect app Tuesday. With the program, parents can give a percentage of their in-store Staples purchase back to an enrolled teacher or school of their choice, the retailer said in a news release.
Staples also is offering a 20% teacher discount now through Sept. 30 to teachers and school administrators who participate in Classroom Rewards.
