Registry of Motor Vehicles to reopen in Lowell on Aug 2

LOWELL — The Registry of Motor Vehicles will reopen its Lowell Service Center for all transactions on Aug. 2, the state told city leaders Wednesday, just over a week after the Lowell City Council and State House delegation pressed the issue.

State Rep. Vanna Howard announced Wednesday afternoon that she received a letter from Acting Registrar Colleen Ogilvie.

“In the letter, Acting Registrar Ogilvie mentioned that the Lowell RMV Service Center will reopen for all transaction types beginning Aug. 2, and will be working to prepare the office for customer visits, retrofitting counters with Lexan glass, and making other safety

Westland Sears, the last in Michigan, closing its doors

Sears, the behemoth that was once the largest retailer in the United States, is set to close its final Michigan department store in the coming months.

Signs posted at the Sears store at the Westland Shopping Center indicates the store at the mall at Wayne and Warren roads is closing its doors. Signage indicates merchandise is marked down 15% to 50% off throughout the store. 

Plenty of items remain for sale as of Tuesday afternoon: clothing was abundant on the first floor, and the second floor had many appliances and more.

City of Pasadena Announces Independence Day Closures and Reminders

PASADENA, Calif.—Pasadena residents and businesses are reminded that City Hall and many City services and administrative offices will be closed Monday, July 5, in observance of the Independence Day holiday. Specific closures and exceptions are noted below.

Pasadena Police and Fire Departments will be staffed for all patrol, jail, fire, paramedic and other emergency services, but administrative offices will be closed. If you see something, say something; report suspicious activity to Pasadena Police at (626) 744-4241. For life-threatening emergencies, dial 9-1-1.

Pasadena residents and businesses experiencing power emergencies should call the Pasadena Water and Power Department (PWP) at (626) 744-4673.
